Hi, what move the fuel pump push rod? I am not getting very much fuel and the filter is good and the line is ok. I think something is going bad in the motor. Thanks.

Hi Jamie,

The part that moves the fuel pump rod up and down is the driven gear. This part drives of the brass gear on the crankshaft. It is the same part that drives the distributor. At the base of the driven gear it has an eccentric the pump push rod rides on this. This part is not common to fail, in fact, in 29 years of just doing VW’s, I have personally never seen one go bad.

Hope this helps, Andy
