I have a 69 bug and I want to shave the gas door, can I use an earlier model tank with the fill in the trunk?

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your question. Yes, you can remove the original gas tank and replace it with the gas tank for a 1967 and older Bug. The tank dimensions are the same, but the earlier tank has the gas filler and cap right on the tank. Here is a link to the 1961 to 1967 Bug gas tank:
